Oregon State defeated Cal Poly 6-3 in a rain-affected game at Goss Stadium in Corvallis, Oregon State, following a 1:45 lightning delay that forced the team to turn to freshman left-hander Trey Morris for the win. Morris, who retired five straight and 14 of 16 over 4 2/3 innings, allowed one run on one hit and one hit batter with a season-best eight strikeouts. Despite Cal Poly's strong start, Dax Whitney ended the game with two innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out two. The teams will meet again at 2 p.m.
