Casey Mayfield, a 21-year-old lefty who was drafted by San Diego in 2024, is not considered an upper-echelon prospect at this stage of his development and is more likely to be a back-end rotation candidate for the Tigers. He has recorded an impressive 3.54 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 62/22 K/BB ratio across 53 1/3 innings for High-A Fort Wayne this season. Mayfield is considered more of a long-term developmental project for the Detroit Tigers rather than an instant impact prospect.
