Pakistan is mediating and Iran is seeking indirect engagement through Vance. Despite threats from the US, Iran has rejected a ceasefire proposal, which has opened the door to broader negotiations. The efforts are seen as a test of Vance's influence with US President Donald Trump and whether his presence in the talks will bring closer to a peace deal. The latest round of indirect nuclear negotiations concluded in Geneva on February 26.
