The Polis administration is attempting to block a citizens' initiative, Advance Colorado, which would move Colorado towards a more sensible approach to energy policy. The initiative would allow voters to safeguard their right to natural gas in the state constitution and protect consumers' rights to buy and suppliers' sales. However, the governor's office and its legislature fear this will not meet their goals. Conservation Colorado, a group advocating for a more rational energy policy, has proposed four proposed ballot issues as a counterstrike. The proposed measures aim to further restrict oil and gas development by increasing liability and other sanctions over real or imagined problems.
