Apple is discounting the iPhone in China as part of the 618 shopping festival, a mid-year online retail event that began as a JD.com anniversary sale. Last year, Apple offered limited-time trade-in discounts and other local online retailers, leading to a 4% increase in iPhone shipments year over year. This year, the iPhone 17 Pro series will see a 1,000 yuan (roughly $146) price cut. Meanwhile, JD., one of China’s largest e-commerce retailers, is offering even higher discounts. Some models are expected to reach their lowest prices since launch.
