The report also revealed that Vance expressed skepticism about joining Israel in a regime-change war against Iran. He argued against war before the 2024 presidential election and argued that it would be a distraction of resources and be costly to the country. Vance also raised concerns about how a war with Iran would impact the U.S. munitions stockpile. Other administration officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, also supported the strikes but were reportedly ambivalent.
