Glan Powell and Donald Glover, the voices of Fox McCloud and Yoshi, were cast in the "Super Mario Galaxy Movie" following the success of "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," which also featured Donald Glover and Glen Powell. Both actors pitched themselves for these roles after the first movie was released. Illumination boss Chris Meledandri revealed that both Powell and Glover had a passion for being involved with Nintendo and expressed their desire to be part of a "Star Fox" movie. Nintendo boss Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that it was the Illumination team who first proposed adding Star Fox to the sequel.
