Robinhood joins biggest S&P500 losers list

U.S.-based financial services company, Robinhood, has been named among the top of the S&P 500's year-to-date losers. The company, founded in 2013, operates a commission-free trading app for stocks, exchange-traded funds, options, and cryptocurrencies. Despite its popularity as a major revenue source for the company, when crypto prices fall or volatility declines, this tends to negatively impact its transaction-based crypto revenue. In its Q4 earnings report in February, the company revealed that crypto-related transaction revenue fell 38% year over year to $221 million, driven by lower trading activity and weaker crypto prices. The softer crypto environment has dampened trading enthusiasm, leading to a decrease in retail participation.
