Kelly gave up one run on three hits in seven innings, with six strikeouts and three walks. Vargas has hit safely in 29 of 31 games this season and is currently second in the major leagues to Miami's Otto Lopez. The Mets had only three hits after Tyrone Taylor's two-out double in the fifth. The team's overall record is 15-24, one half behind the Los Angeles Angels for the worst record in the majors.
