Duke University Health System names new CEO

Duke University Health System has named Dr. Davis Zaas as its CEO, effective May 1. Zaas replaces Dr. Craig Albanese, who left Duke Health in 2025 to become president of Kaiser Permanente. He previously served as president and CEO of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and executive vice president of Health Affairs for Wake Forest University. As CEO, Zaas will be responsible for strategic and operational oversight of DUHS and its senior leadership team. He will report jointly to the DUHS Board of Directors and to President Vincent Price.
