Cobb County police deploying drones for more security ahead of World Cup

The Cobb County Police Department is installing equipment that can detect hostile drones flying in the sky ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup games in Atlanta. The department applied for a U.S. Department of Homeland Security grant to obtain the equipment. The money will also be used to purchase drones that can fly to locations where 911 operators are receiving emergency services.
