A U.S. special forces soldier, Gannon Ken Van Dyke, has been arrested for allegedly betting on the removal of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro before news of the raid was made public. The bets, totalling over $33,000, were placed on prediction market Polymarket within hours of President Trump's announcement that Maduro had been captured. Van Dykes was charged with unlawful use of confidential government information for personal gain, theft of nonpublic government information, commodities fraud, wire fraud, and engaging in monetary transactions from unlawful activity. The arrest is a first for U.s. authorities and follows allegations of Israeli soldiers using classified information to place bets on the prediction platform Polymarket.
