The Commission for Higher Education has approved the elimination of hundreds of college degrees. The decision follows months of negotiations between the commission and the state's seven public colleges and universities. The 1,160 degree programs identified accounted for just 4% of Indiana's college degrees awarded in 2025. While about 470 degree programs will continue, another 370 will be consolidated or merged with another program. 171 degree programs are expected to be suspended and 39 will be eliminated. Students enrolled in these programs will be allowed to complete their degrees.
