The College Football Playoff Management Committee (CFP) continues to consider multiple formats, including 16- and 24-team fields. The decision to change the format must be approved by Dec. 1. The SEC prefers a 16-team format, while the Big Ten is pushing for expansion to 24. A potential 24 team would add 12 games and an additional round of the tournament. The committee also had presentations from analysts and network partners. The schedule for the national title game has been a major issue, as the NFL begins playing games on Saturday in December, making it difficult for the playoff to play on weekdays or risk some of its valuable games against the NFL. SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey remained silent on discussions about the College Football playoff format, but expressed openness to the five-year eligibility window, citing President Donald Trump's new executive order.
