The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office has warned of increased gray wolf activity near homes and an increase in livestock attacks. The agency has reported a growing number of gray wolves in residential areas, with one resident reporting seeing two adult wolves close to their home. The sheriff's office also noted a spike in livestock losses this spring, with 16 incidents reported despite ranchers implementing recommended deterrence measures. The Sheriff's office is urging changes to California's wolf management policies, stating that additional tools are needed to address the rise in conflicts between wolves and livestock.
