BBB warns of ticket scams ahead of March Madness

The Better Business Bureau of the Eastern Carolinas (BBI) has issued a warning about ticketing scams ahead of the ACC and NCAA tournaments. The warning comes as nearly no venue or licensed ticketing reseller will allow still images and screenshots for entry into a ticketed event. The BBB's Scam Tracker has recorded over 140 reports of ticket scams connected to live events as recently as 2024. Ticketmaster recently introduced a new mobile ticket system, designed to protect against scams like March Madness. The organization recommends that a mobile ticket must be provided on the user's device or within their digital wallet to gain entry.
