A-repped YA author Sarah Mlynowski and Verve’s E. Lockhart (Amazon’�s “We Were Liars”) have proposed a 40-page book proposal titled “Nancy,” which centered on an all-grown-up version of the popular character Nancy Drew. Despite interest from Steven Spielberg, including Amy Adams and Aubrey Plaza, who also expressed interest in the project, was unsuccessful. The proposal was met with interest from Mindy Kaling and Greg Berlanti, while Fox Searchlight made a direct offer and Spielberg's Amblin and A24 negotiated a partnership deal. However, the copyright on the first four Nancy Drew books only expired in the US.
