The Gates Foundation, co-founded by Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates, plans to eliminate up to 500 jobs by 2030, representing approximately 20% of the organization's workforce. The move comes amid an internal investigation into the foundation's ties to deceased sex offender and suspected sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. The foundation plans to cut 200 of these jobs by the end of 2027. Reductions in travel and other expenses will accompany the job cuts. Despite the job losses, Gates is unlikely to suffer financially. The Gates Foundation has used its $86 billion endowment to address childhood mortality, infectious diseases, and other health and development issues in Africa.
