The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has released its enforcement priorities for 2026 for Employee Benefit Plans. This follows the introduction of Daniel Aronowitz, the new head of the Department of Labour, who previously ran a fiduciary liability insurance company. Aronow emphasized that the department was aiming to reduce the amount of class action litigation affecting plan sponsors across the country, but in exchange, he will increase Department of Enforcement. He will focus on cybersecurity, service providers, fiduciaries monitoring these providers, and plan distributions. Additionally, he is expected to focus on precise audits and shorter duration of these audits. These regulations will not affect existing ongoing investigations.
