The US Army test site in Yuma, Arizona, was used to evaluate parachutes for NASA's Artemis II mission, a 10-day test flight designed to test the Orion spacecraft with a crew. The test was conducted at the U.S. Army’s test center, Yuma Proving Ground, which played a significant role in developing the parachute system for the mission. The system was designed to handle extreme forces and is designed to return astronauts safely to the Earth. This is not the first time NASA has used the Yuma area for training or testing.
