British 10-year-old Layla made a short film about her grandmother, June, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2015. The film was submitted to the national Bring Hope Home filmmaking contest led by her school Pauline Quirke Academy (PQA). The competition was open to kids aged 6-17 across the UK and required short films to be between 60 and 90 seconds long. Layla's film was selected as one of the three runner-ups and received a trophy and a full year scholarship. She also expressed her desire to use the film to comfort and help other children who have a loved one with dementia.
