EU, Sweden condemn execution of Swedish citizen in Iran

The European Union and Swedish Foreign Minister, both in reference to the execution of a Swedish citizen by the Iranian regime, have condemned the execution. The individual, who had been held in captivity since June 2025, was reportedly arrested during the 12-day war between Israel and Iran and is the third person to be hanged on espionage charges so far this year. The EU has called on Iran to halt all executions and abolish capital punishment.
