The Department of Education has honored fallen conservative icon Charlie Kirk with a banner outside its headquarters as part of its celebration of America's 250th birthday. The image will be hung alongside icons Catharine Beecher and Booker T. Washington, who had significant impact on education and civil rights in the 1800s. A separate banner reads “Empowering our States to tell the Stories of our Heroes in American Education’. Kirk was assassinated last year at the Utah Valley University campus and was known for his rigorous debate skills and public speaking ability. He founded the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA to promote constitutional and religious values on college campuses.
