U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley, who represents the southwest part of Lake County, is facing three challengers in the Democratic primary election on March 17. The challengers, Matthew Conroy, Ellen A. Corley and Anthony Michael Tamez, differ on Quigly's positions regarding affordability and the housing crisis. Conroy suggested increasing the budgets of the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Department for Veterans Affairs, while Tameaz suggested reducing the cost of living by eliminating tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump for nearly a year. Quigleys also suggested that the federal government should streamline the immigration system and implement comprehensive reforms. Tamesz, a Native American, said he is running because it is time for a generational change in Congress.
