N.J. man found with drugs, guns after child was rushed to hospital is sentenced to prison

Daniel Garcia Jr., a 29-year-old man from Maple Shade, New Jersey, has been sentenced to 17 years and seven months in prison after pleading guilty to money and drug-related offenses. The investigation began in June 2024 when a child was rushed to a hospital with breathing issues and seizures. The child was later flown to a children's hospital and tested positive for controlled substances such as benzodiazepine and fentanyl. While the child was receiving treatment, Garcia left the hospital and returned home with nearly $155,000 in cash, 767 grams of cocaine, and multiple other drugs. Police also recovered two 9mm handguns and a.357 magnum revolver.
