The BBC's interim Director General, Rhodri Talfan Davies, has confirmed that up to 2,000 jobs will be cut in an effort to save hundreds of millions of pounds. The cuts, described as "brutal," were part of a human cost, with staff morale already low following a series of editorial blunders. The BBC's aim is to save £500M ($678M) across the next two years. The move comes amidst growing anti-European Union (EU) sentiment in Hungary, where Viktor Orbán was defeated by Péter Magyar who plans to dismantle much of Orbán's work.
