The Democratic designee for New York lieutenant governor and former speaker of the York City Council, Candelée Adams, has written that childcare is often out of reach for families, as she saw it early in her life as a student at Spelman College and a mother who struggled financially to maintain her family. Adams is running alongside Gov. Hochul on New York's first "mom's ticket" to prioritise early childhood education, expanding care for our youngest children and providing affordable childcare for nearly 100,000 more children. This fall, 2,000 New York City families will receive free 2-K seats, and by 2028, every four-year-old in New York will have access to universal pre-K.
