The Palmer Municipal Golf Course is now fully back in the hands of the city of Palmer, Alaska. The issue arose during renegotiation talks between Eagle Golf Management, Inc. and Palmer Mayor Jim Cooper, who had managed the course for 18 years, regarding the legality of the initial contracts. The disputes stemmed from sales from the liquor license, which was allegedly going to the contractor rather than the city, and full-time employees weren't being paid properly. Cooper stated that while Collum has done a terrific job managing the golf course, the concern is having a legal contract that protects both the city and the contractor. The city will manage the golfcourse for a year before considering taking over it from the previous owner.
