Shelter opens as Kona storm brings dangerous wind, surf to West Oahu

A city-operated evacuation shelter was opened at Nanakuli High School, where volunteers were on hand to assist residents. A power outage was reported around noon and several residents were affected. Public schools across Oahu, Kauai, and Maui County will close due to severe weather conditions.
