Scott Wedgewood, the Avalanche goalie, is on a run that Colorado hasn't seen since Patrick Roy in the NHL playoffs. He is currently 3-0 this postseason with a 1.28 GAA, outperforming his peers Philipp Grubauer, Jose Theodore, Alexandar Georgiev and Darcy Kuemper. No one over their initial four playoff appearances with the Avs has posted a lower goals allowed average (1.17 GAA) or a higher save percentage (95.2%) s than Wedewood, a career journeyman. The Avs' coach, Jared Bednar, believes that there is no reason to change this horse in the league. Despite a rare early season dip, Wedgewwood has been performing well, ranking fourth among NHL stoppers with 55-plus minutes of playoff action in “high-danger goals allowed” (0.6464), and fifth with a 90% save rate (90.5%)
