New England airports spared from long lines at security checkpoints for now

No New England airports are expected to see ICE officers taking over security duties due to a presidential order aimed at assisting Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees working without pay during the partial government shutdown. Despite this, both Logan International Airport in Boston or Bradley International Airport, Connecticut, confirmed a lack of ICE presence at their terminals. The Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the TSA, has been shut down since Feb. 14 after Congressional Democrats withheld support for the GOP's funding bill in a bid for restrictions on ICE and Customs and Border Patrol officers. Over 400 TSA officers have resigned since the shutdown began, and at least 35 have walked off the job due to not being paid.
