The Israeli military has destroyed 2,200 Iranian regime targets, mostly in the Tehran and western Iran areas, in an effort to weaken the regime significantly and counterbalance its threat to Israel. Despite these successes, the IDF remains cautious about whether the regime can fall. Despite a trend of regime supporters deserting their posts, IDF defense officials believe this trend is too small to bring about a near-term collapse. Concerns have been raised about how often the IDF is killing regime forces used to kill protesters rather than merely blow up their buildings. The IDF has also expressed doubts about Mojtaba Khamenei's ability to replace Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as Iran's leader, given his swift transition to succeed him as supreme leader. Despite this, the military remains committed to attacking as many targets as possible as possible to advance regime change. The Israeli government has also stated that it has destroyed most of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force, killing top officials in Iran and killing 17 out of 20 Quds Forces aircraft for exporting terror, arms, and funding, and is still hunting for the remaining three aircraft.
