Apple Ireland may have broken sanctions on Russia

Apple's Ireland subsidiary, Apple Distribution International, has been fined half a million dollars by UK regulators for possibly breaking sanctions against Russia. The fine was imposed by the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) as the UK is not part of the European Union. The payments were made via a UK-based bank and could have led to Apple potentially breaking sanctions. The company voluntarily disclosed its payments of $844,145 to Russian online video streaming service Okko in October 2022. It is believed that these payments were from customers' purchasing the Russian app.
