The Banham Zoo in the UK has conducted CT scans for multiple animals, including penguins, a vulture, a cheetah, a tiger and a sloth, to aid in "long-term well-being" efforts. The scans, performed by radiographers from Burgess Diagnostics, show the animals' bones, organs, and soft tissue. The use of these scans is seen as a significant step forward to gain a deeper understanding of health conditions and make informed decisions about treatment and long-term wellbeing. In the case of Mishka the Amur tiger, the team sedated her before taking her to the scanner, where bone and spinal changes were monitored.
