Houston Texans owner Cal McNair remains committed to quarterback C.J. Stroud, despite a difficult season in 2025 due to a lacklustlustre performance and injuries. Despite this, Stroud's fifth-year option was exercised by general manager Nick Caserio, which will keep him in Houston through the 2027 season. The $25.904 million salary Stroud will earn in 2027 is a bargain compared to the 16 NFL quarterbacks earning over $30 million per season. Despite his struggles in 2025, despite Houston's No. 1-ranked defense leading the team to a postseason berth and three consecutive playoff appearances, the Texans remain committed to Stroud. The team made several moves this offseason to address a leaky offensive line and address the issue of player Juice Scruggs and Tytus Howard.
