A new firmware update for the Nintendo Switch 2, version 22.0.0, introduced Handheld Mode Boost, a feature that will give Switch 1 games a visual upgrade when played on the Switch 2 in handheld mode. This is due to the higher resolution screen on the switch 2, which allows for a sharper graphics when playing a game on a Switch 2. When enabled, Handheld mode will allow a game to display 1080p at 60 frames per second. However, a user on Reddit tested the mode to see how it reduced battery life, which is a 27% drop.
