Last fall, FCC chair Brendan Carr amplified social media backlash over Kimmel's quip on conservative pundit Benny Johnson's podcast, and ABC station owners and advertisers began calling Disney senior management following the incident. Despite calls from MAGA Republicans for Kimmel to be sacked, no apology was issued. This time, following a similar incident, station owners, advertisers, and major affiliate conglomerates Nexstar and Sinclair threatened to not carry Jimmy Kimmel's Live! without an apology and a major donation to a conservative charity. However, there has been no direct consequences as there have been no angry calls from Disney's business partners. The Federal Commission is reviewing ABC’ broadcast license two-to-five years ahead of its scheduled check-up.
