Animal rights activist Emma Smart attempted to rescue a lobster from a restaurant in Dorset, England, but later discovered that the animal was actually a pet. She admitted to causing criminal damage to a lobster in court after taking it from the restaurant and throwing it into the nearby harbor. The incident occurred on April 10, 2025. The restaurant's owner and manager, Anthony Cooper, explained that the lobsters were kept in a tank near the front of the restaurant for "educational purposes" for children. The stolen lobster likely died due to the change in water temperature and stress.
