ESPN's legendary reporter, Michael Schaap, has been working on a new project at the network, "The Biggest Game," which explores the history of the Super Bowl. The podcast is part of a broader initiative of programming centered around the Big Game, as ESPN prepares for its first Super Bowl in 2027. Schaap has previously hosted books on heavyweight boxing champions in the 1930s and Jesse Owens at the Munich Olympics, directed a "30 for 30" on Buster Douglas' 1990 upset of Mike Tyson. He also won a Peabody for his episode on "E60" on the life and legacy of Jim Abbott. Despite criticism for focusing on opinion-based talk shows over sports journalism, Schaap believes that storytelling is still an important part of the company's larger journalistic ambitions.
