Man accused of sexually assaulting child brought across state lines in a rideshare

A 27-year-old Wisconsin man is accused of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 12 after arranging for a rideshare to bring the victim across state lines. Chase Schroeder, who allegedly contacted the child via social media, allegedly sexually assaulted the child then arranged for them to be transported back to Illinois using another rideshare. The victim has been found safe and reunited with family. Schroeder was arrested in a joint operation involving local and federal agencies and is currently being held on a federal probation warrant. The case is being referred to as "deeply disturbing," with police Chief Kevin Warych urging families to discuss online safety with their children.
