The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has blocked the $2 billion acquisition of American tech firm, Meta, by Mark Zuckerberg's Meta. The move is seen as an extraordinary late-stage intervention by the government. In December, Meta acquired Manus AI, a Chinese-founded AI company that operates independently without continuous prompts from the user. However, China's National Development and Reform Commission rejected the acquisition, labeling it a mandatory "unwinding" and violating Chinese rules on foreign investment. The White House has pledged to continue defending America's leading and innovative technology sector against foreign interference.
