Real Madrid and Barcelona played in the first of two UEFA Women's Champions League quarterfinal legs, with Real Madrid hoping to show they are competing on level terms with Barcelona. However, Barcelona won 6-2, with Ewa Pajor scoring the first goal six minutes into the game. Barcelona's record in this fixture is nearly flawless, with 21 wins and only one defeat. Madrid's Linda Caicedo managed to put two goals in the second half to keep Madrid just barely in the tie. Despite this, Madrid's progress was noted, with only one goal scored away at Madrid in the Copa de la Reina semifinals in 2025. The scoreline is one from the men's game in May 2009.
