Florida Republican gubernatorial candidate James Fishback has highlighted the concerns of young voters about the job market. Since the mid-1990s, 5.4 million people on average have been classified as underemeded, rising to over 9 million during the 2008 Great Recession and 10 million during COVID-19. A Federal Reserve of New York report found that 42.5% of recent college graduates aged 22 to 27 were underemoted as of December 2025, the rate varying from 38% to 48%.
