The town of Secaucus, New Jersey, has warned its residents that short-term rentals during the FIFA World Cup are strictly prohibited. The city is one of the ZIP codes that qualifies for a $750 reward from AirB&B if a property is listed before the tournament begins. The World Cup, an official World Cup tournament sponsor, is offering new hosts who list an entire home in an eligible ZIP code and complete a qualifying reservation by July 31. If homeowners or renters are found to be advertising their homes on these sites, they will receive a warning letter from the town and be fined. The town has passed a law in 2019 that prohibits short-time rentals, defined as anyone renting out for 30 days or less.
