Broadcast Retirement Network's Jeffrey Snyder and Tuft University's Leah Abrams discuss the impact of diseases like heart disease and cancer on Americans' longevity. Abrams suggests that while life expectancy and longevity have generally improved over time, exceptions like the pandemic, wars, or pandemic may lead to life expectancy dropping. A recent study found that baby boomer cohorts, born between 1950 and 1959, were driving the stall, leading to a decrease in life expectancy. However, another generation, born around 1975, also found to be doing worse than the ones born before them. This indicates that we have lost this steady improvement for generations. The researchers suggest that factors such as aging, genetics, and environmental factors could influence longevity, but there are still things that can improve our longevity.
