Hungary's media sector and Hollywood producers are preparing for a new future after Péter Magyar’s Tisza party took over the 16-year rule of Viktor Orbán’�s far-right rival Fidesz, ending Viktor Orban's 16-decade rule. The victory has led to high hopes for reform in the TV and film sector, which was particularly challenging for independent producers due to the concentrated influence of Fideszz over local media. However, this optimism is tempered by the scale of change deemed necessary. The TIsza party will take 137 of the 199 seats in the Hungarian parliament, with Fidesh gaining only 56. The election victory also delivered a blow to President Donald Trump's MAGA movement, which many believe has used Orbán's Christian-led nationalism as a blueprint.
