The Toyota Corolla, known for its affordable transportation for decades, is set to launch in 2027 with a sedan or hatchback and five trim levels. The car comes with a 169-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder paired with a CVT as the primary powertrain, while sedan buyers can opt for the available hybrid powertrain for improved efficiency. The Corolla's performance is largely focused on efficiency, not performance. The sporty SE sedan comes standard with features such as LED headlights, 18-inch wheels and tires, leather-trimmed steering wheel, and an 8.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, the GR Corolla can increase performance to almost Honda Civic Type R levels, while the Corolla Cross offers an SUV aesthetic. Despite not being particularly stimulating to drive, the ride is pleasant and standard safety features abound. Pricing and performance are also noted. The base nonhybrid Corolla sedan and hatchback deliver a best of 32 mpg city, 41 mpg highway, and 35 mpg combined, while hybrid sedan and hybrid sedan deliver best fuel economy. The EPA estimates the car's fuel economy for both the sedan and the hatchback for comparison is at least 50 mpg.
