Rescued grey seal pup released into ocean after 8-week Jersey Shore rehab

A female grey seal pup was rescued from Long Beach Island street after being discovered wandering up a beach access path. The Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine, New Jersey, transported the pup to its facility and underwent eight-week rehabilitation. During her rehabilitation, the seal was treated for a respiratory infection and malnutrition. The center also equipped the seal with satellite and acoustic tags for post-rehabilitation monitoring. The pup was released into the ocean at the North Brigantine Natural Area and weighed a healthy 73 pounds.
