Three Hurricanes picked in NFL draft’s first round for first time in nearly two decades

The NFL draft's first-round broadcast featured three Miami Hurricanes players, Francis Mauigoa, Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor, who were selected in the first round, marking the first time three Hurricanes have been in the top three since 2007. Mauigo, a former five-star prospect who started every game during his three seasons with the Hurricanes, went 10th in the draft to the New York Giants. Bain was the second Miami player picked, with Bain falling past the hometown Dolphins' pick at No. 12 but being drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mesido was the last Hurricane selected in first round. There were also concerns about Mesidore's pro potential due to his age and injury history.
