The U.S. Center for SafeSport has permanently banned Paralympic swimmer Robert Griswold from participating in the Olympics after he was accused of sexually assaulting an autistic teammate during the Games in 2021 and another year after. The case led to a lawsuit alleging a pattern of grooming and sexual assault that began when Grisawold and the athlete traveled to Tokyo for the Paralympics. The center's CEO, Benita Fitzgerald Mosely, praised the actions of the athletes and their supporters for their commitment to long-term culture change. The lawsuit was dismissed after a judge ruled the court lacked jurisdiction.
